  Teaching Procedures:

  Step 1: Free Talk&Lead-in (5 min)

  The teacher has a free talk with the students and then leads in the class by asking the students to count the numbers together.

  T: Hello, boys and girls.

  Ss: Hello, teacher.

  T: I’m so glad to be here with you, are you happy?

  Ss: Yes.

  T: I do hope you have a good time. Sit down please.

  T: Boys and girls, can you count numbers?

  T: OK, look at the big screen. Let’s count the numbers together, OK?

  Step 2: Presentation (15 min)

  Learn the sentence pattern: What time is it?

  T: Let’s do some exercises. (displaying some beautiful clock pictures showing different time)Wow,look at this clock. What time is it?

  Learn the sentence patterns: It’s time to…/It’s time for…

  Show Ss some pictures about daily life, and help them make up sentences like“It’s time to go to bed/go home/go to school/get up”and“It’s time for dinner”.

  Purpose:The purpose of this step is to present the students with the new language points enable them to learn about the language by doing a variety of activities.

  Step 3: Practice (10 min)

  Pair Work: Make dialogues

  The teacher can display some clock pictures showing different time, and ask students to make up dialogues as follows.

  S1: What time is it?

  S2: It’s 6:30.

  S1:Oh, yes. It’s time to get up.

  S4: It’s 7:00 o’clock. It’s time for breakfast.

  Purpose: The purpose of this step is to present the students with the new knowledge points.

  Step 4: Consolidation (10 min)

  After practice, the teacher can invite some pairs to display their dialogues to the whole class and ask some of the students to give evaluation.

  T: OK, boys and girls, since we have already learned about the words, phrases and the sentence patterns, now, let’s have a role-play, OK? Suppose that you are going to make a timetable and please work with your partner first. I’ll give you five minutes. When time’s up, I’ll ask some of you to come to the blackboard and show us your performance. OK? Let’s get started.
